Owl Card.....

So it's my father-in-law's birthday soon, and I made this card for him:

It's fairly basic, so I'll take you through the steps.

You'll need some cardstock cut to size. Fold in half to make the card. I had a pre-cut card here that I used, and you can obviously change the dimensions to suit your needs:

I had bought a pack of Christmas papers that had a lot of non Christmasy patterns, which I thought was great, as I could use it for all sorts of occasions. I used a piece of brown and white checked card, which I embossed with a spot with the Quickuts Revoltion. I trimmed the top 2 edges with a corner cutter - I love rounded edges

I then added a piece of green glitter stripes to the bottom - this already had the scalloped edge trip, but you could cut other cards to make this affect.

To make the "Happy Birthday" I printed Happy Birthday on a piece of paper, and then cut it with a circle cutter on Quickuts, I cut a piece of the green glitter stripe slightly bigger to fit underneath. Then I wanted a scallop edged circle - so I found one on Silhouette (House of 3: dream scallop seal) Not quite what I wanted, so removed the words, had a few attempts on my silhouette to get the size right - you can see by how many circles I gut to get this right!
I also added a piece of ribbon sticker to the glitter paper.

I then felt like it needed something more, so I cut the Owl (owl cutout) on Silhouette, backed it onto cream card, trimmed it, and added wobbly eyes for added affect.

I hope you like it!!

Chilled weekend

I've been working on a pretty cool project for some friends - an invitation for their civil ceremony. I won't post pics of it until they have sent it out, but they look so good. Got a few bits to finish - like printing and final sticking, and then it is done!.

I had a pretty lazy weekend - I sat on the couch and watched TV all weekend, and don't feel at all bad for doing it. I did however manage to make some Christmas cards, so at least I got something done. A little closer to being ready to write and post them!!

Christmas Card: Using corner rounder’s, some bling, and a sentiment I cut from the Silhouette machine to make an effective yet simple card

Bauble Card: This is from a set of papers I was hoarding since last December, and "forgot" about. I cut the baubles from my Silhouette machine. The shape on the edge was also cut from silhouette, but because Silhouette is not so good at cutting through glitter papers, I cut this on normal paper, and traced it. Add some bling and ribbon, and it’s done
