Owl Card.....

So it's my father-in-law's birthday soon, and I made this card for him:

It's fairly basic, so I'll take you through the steps.

You'll need some cardstock cut to size. Fold in half to make the card. I had a pre-cut card here that I used, and you can obviously change the dimensions to suit your needs:

I had bought a pack of Christmas papers that had a lot of non Christmasy patterns, which I thought was great, as I could use it for all sorts of occasions. I used a piece of brown and white checked card, which I embossed with a spot with the Quickuts Revoltion. I trimmed the top 2 edges with a corner cutter - I love rounded edges

I then added a piece of green glitter stripes to the bottom - this already had the scalloped edge trip, but you could cut other cards to make this affect.

To make the "Happy Birthday" I printed Happy Birthday on a piece of paper, and then cut it with a circle cutter on Quickuts, I cut a piece of the green glitter stripe slightly bigger to fit underneath. Then I wanted a scallop edged circle - so I found one on Silhouette (House of 3: dream scallop seal) Not quite what I wanted, so removed the words, had a few attempts on my silhouette to get the size right - you can see by how many circles I gut to get this right!
I also added a piece of ribbon sticker to the glitter paper.

I then felt like it needed something more, so I cut the Owl (owl cutout) on Silhouette, backed it onto cream card, trimmed it, and added wobbly eyes for added affect.

I hope you like it!!

Chilled weekend

I've been working on a pretty cool project for some friends - an invitation for their civil ceremony. I won't post pics of it until they have sent it out, but they look so good. Got a few bits to finish - like printing and final sticking, and then it is done!.

I had a pretty lazy weekend - I sat on the couch and watched TV all weekend, and don't feel at all bad for doing it. I did however manage to make some Christmas cards, so at least I got something done. A little closer to being ready to write and post them!!

Christmas Card: Using corner rounder’s, some bling, and a sentiment I cut from the Silhouette machine to make an effective yet simple card

Bauble Card: This is from a set of papers I was hoarding since last December, and "forgot" about. I cut the baubles from my Silhouette machine. The shape on the edge was also cut from silhouette, but because Silhouette is not so good at cutting through glitter papers, I cut this on normal paper, and traced it. Add some bling and ribbon, and it’s done

My Scrapping Challenge

I cannot believe this week has gone so fast, well this year actually. I remember at the beginning of the year thinking that it was great because my Sister in Law’s wedding was in September and we had something to look forward to, and now its end of October, and the wedding was 4 weeks ago. Wow!! Here is a picture of the beautiful bride.
I got involved in scrapbooking about 3 years ago and am enjoying it immensely, or at least the shops are enjoying me immensely with all the money I spend there! I seem to have a tendency to collect items more than use them. I gave myself a New Year’s resolution at the beginning of 2010 to scrap 1 LO (that’s a scrapbook page, or Lay Out for those who may not know) a week. I have done pretty well – I have done 51 LO’s this year, BUT they have mostly been from classes - which I love, BUT I have so much stuff, that I want to use it. AND they are not all complete (no pictures/titles/journaling) - so my mission when I am on leave in December is to complete them all!

My New challenge to myself in 2011 is to create 1 LO a week on my own!! (or maybe with the help of some sketches!!)

I have roped in some friends to join me with this challenge – the more the merrier – and the more creative and inspired you feel. The idea will be to get together once a month. In advance, we will create little “packages” – These will include, the photo’s, papers, embellishments, ribbons etc that we want to use on the LO, and we then only use what is in the package! Simple huh! Let’s see if we can manage this!

Christmas Cards

So It's that time of year again, and Christmas card making is on the list. I have about 55 cards that I make every year. I try and keep my designs sinmple because of that. Here are some of the designs I have come up with. I tend to find a style I like and repeat it with diffent papers. Each card comes out differently, but copying a style makes it easy to make lots of cards with out spending too much time!

Dinner Time

So I decided to try something new for dinner last night, and came up with this delicious Potato and Chicken meal.  May not look great in this picture, but it sure tasted good, and easy to make. About 10 minutes prep, and 20 - 30 minutes in the oven - what could be easier.

Welcome

Well I'm pretty new to this blogging, but decided I needed to set something up to showcase all the hard work I have been doing with my crafts.
